About The Breakdown

If you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust?
It all started that night in the woods.
Cass Anderson didn’t stop to help the woman in the car, and now she’s dead.
Ever since, silent calls have been plaguing Cass and she’s sure someone is watching her.
Consumed by guilt, she’s also starting to forget things. Whether she took her pills, what her house alarm code is – and if the knife in the kitchen really had blood on it.
Bestselling author B A Paris is back with a brand new psychological thriller full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This book is brilliant, right from the start I felt like my heart was pounding with anxious tension as to what was to come.
Cass Anderson is driving home one night in a terrible storm and promises her husband that she will not take the short cut through the woods – however of course she does to cut off 15 minutes of her journey time. Cass immediately regrets her decision considering her visibility was horrendous….then she comes across a car in a lay by with a woman sitting inside. Cass temporarily stops in the lay by but when the woman gives no indication that she needs any help, Cass leaves without getting out of the car. Cass is wracked with guilt when she finds out that the woman was brutally murdered and strange things start to occur.
Cass is a brilliant unreliable narrator, the plot had me questioning and second guessing every one and everything that was happening. As I say, my heart was in my throat for the majority of the book until everything started to unravel to the conclusion and things started to fall into place.
I had an idea as to what was to come, but I was also questioning myself and what I was reading so this compelled me to keep reading even more. Whilst there was elements I was right about, there were also bits that I didn’t see coming!
I thoroughly enjoyed Paris’ first novel, Behind Closed Doors and this second novel certainly continues with the fantastic psychological tension that Paris can create with her writing – Paris most definitely isn’t a one hit wonder.
If you’ve not read either books, buy them both but I recommend you make sure your doors are locked before starting either of them!
